During today’s event, The Final Shape, Bungie revealed more about the storyline of The Final Shape, which will heavily focus on The Traveler. This large, mysterious, spherical entity has always been present in Destiny. However, The Final Shape will take it further, with The Traveler seeking assistance as The Witness harnesses its light to perform dreadful acts.
The players will explore a new destination called The Pale Heart, which is located within The Traveler. According to Bungie, The Pale Heart “will showcase nostalgia from throughout the history of the Light and Darkness Saga, including the original Tower version of Destiny. As the first linear destination in Destiny’s history, The Pale Heart will also evolve gradually.” (It should be noted that this nostalgia includes the mysterious return of Cayde-6.)

Bungie states that the episode format will represent a “completely new approach to storytelling and content.”
Bungie has announced that there will be three separate episodes in 2024, titled Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy. Each episode will be a standalone story told in three acts, and each will explore the “impact and consequences of the closure of the Light and Darkness saga.” Bungie also noted that these episodes will introduce additional content and rewards “more frequently than previous seasons of Destiny 2.”
