The news that Homelander and Omni-Man will both be present in Mortal Kombat 1 has caused a lot of excitement among fans. There is only one issue… they look similar, don’t they?
Both characters resemble Superman due to their superhuman strength, ability to fly, and unbelievable durability. The native inhabitants possess heat vision, while Omni-Man does not. However, they definitely share certain fundamental patterns, to the extent that both of them wear hats.
Their similarity raises questions about how similar their fighting styles are in Mortal Kombat 1. However, speaking to IGN, co-creator of Mortal Kombat Ed Boon dismisses fans’ concerns.
“I can see us doing anything with their characters, but I don’t think we’ll give Homelander and Omni-Man heat vision or anything like that,” Boon told IGN during gamescom.
“We will not make both of them perform all the Superman-type categories. We will divide those abilities, so it’s not just an imitation of the same character. They will definitely play differently. The main attacks will truly differentiate them, but we are fully aware of the assumptions made by some people, ‘Oh, they will just be the same character.'”
