The developer responsible for the popular Hitman franchise, IO Interactive, is reportedly working on a new online fantasy RPG called “Project Dragon”. According to internal Microsoft documents submitted in the ongoing FTC v. Microsoft trial regarding the Activision-Blizzard acquisition, the game may be an Xbox exclusive.
The document states that IOI is working on a PC and Xbox Series X and S RPG shooter called “Project Dragon.” It is also mentioned that the game is “for XGS Publishing,” or Xbox Game Studios. Although it was never officially linked to IOI’s fantasy RPG announced earlier this year, it seems unlikely that the studio would work on two fantasy RPGs simultaneously, in addition to the planned James Bond game.
The internal document combined with the internal report suggests that the upcoming fantasy game will be exclusive to Xbox and PC, published by Xbox Game Studios and with significant support from Xbox. At least, that’s what was indicated when the document was shared internally in May 2021.
