Unfortunately, Spencer did not provide further permission regarding the “binding agreement,” so it is unclear how long this agreement will be valid or what it includes. However, this agreement was made after the completion of the Microsoft FTC, where Spencer stated that he would do whatever it takes to keep Call of Duty available on PlayStation.
“I am committed here to not withdraw Call of Duty – this is my testimony – from PlayStation,” Spencer added. “As you mentioned, Sony certainly needs to publish us to release this game on their platform. But without all of that, my commitment is that we will continue to release the latest versions of Call of Duty on Sony’s PlayStation 5.”
In December 2022, it was reported that Microsoft’s offer to Sony was to ensure that Call of Duty remains available on PlayStation for 10 years, and Sony has the right to include Call of Duty in PlayStation Plus if desired. It is still unclear whether this agreement was finalized by both companies or if there have been any changes since then.
