Final Fantasy XIV has a rich history of incorporating content, ideas, and references from other Final Fantasy titles, so it’s not surprising that Blitzball would be included in this game. However, in the recent Dawntrail announcement, we also saw a new allied race called Pelupelu, which appeared in Final Fantasy X and X-2. The introduction of Pelupelu, along with a new coastal region called Tural, has sparked hopes that Blitzball will make an appearance. Unfortunately, those hopes have not been realized.
This is a significant day for Final Fantasy 14 fans. The announcement of a new expansion that is packed with content gives them plenty to enjoy for a long time. However, we also know that this MMO will finally be available on Xbox consoles in the upcoming spring season after years of fan requests. Unfortunately, Blitzball will not be there to welcome it, but perhaps the next expansion, Warriors, will include it.
